ADAPTIVE LEARNER

Setting goals, adjusting paths, and learning from outcomes are some of the key features of being an adaptive learner. Every choice made will have a consequence, and learning from those mistakes and is key to success. Able to pivot and change plans on a whim is a must, as well as being able to work with little direction. Each pothole must be filled with your own thoughts and is true for not only my school, but the real world. Throughout this page, you'll find artifacts that truly tested my ability to complete a task, and also allowed me to grow as a person to complete future tasks.

BMC

Developing a Business Model Canvas in Incubator.

My business team is started out with very different goals than what is now displayed below on the BMC. We started wanting to venture into the creative arts. However, our now CEO Arianna Dominico changed our direction and led us to Gavin's Notebook. Her imaginative spirit, Dutra's realistic thought process, my organizational skills, and all of our ambition combined, we created the stepping stones for Gavin's Notebook and our BMC. This document alone gave us details about our motives, our mission, our ways of communications, the fundamentals of our business. Without it, we would struggle with direction and meaning. This truly showcases the meaning of planning and then adapting and changing to such a plan for the best possible chance of success.

ECO-DOME

Building a sustainable future on an uninhabitable planet in Physics.

In Physics, we were tasked to make a living space to allow astronauts to live on Mars for a certain number of years. The process I took for this was definitely a weird one. For starters, this project was done while the beginnings of quarantine. Though I had my physics teacher Church for guidance, the direction was more up for grabs. To make sure that I have the support and that direction in place, I decided to make a daily podcast to update everyone on progress, as well as to provide tips and ideas for their own eco dome. I also read stories that related to my mission (The Martian) in order to get a scientific (fiction but still containing good info) understanding of what is to be contained in the area. While also designing, it was obvious that I found things that would not work. I would later indicate such in later videos, and put my own thoughts into reversing my possible mistake.

SCRUMMING

Using a new method to keep track of my work.

Scrumboarding was a new organizational method introduced throughout my junior year. It was strange, hard to learn, and took a bit of time to come accustomed to, as it brought new organizational, thinking, and scheduling methods. However, I had to do scrumming in a multitude of my classes, which kind of forced me to adapt to the new organizational method quickly, and I'm glad for it. Though it can be a bit strange, Scrumboarding can be applied to a multitude of disciplines to realize, narrow, and assign goals, steps, and simple reminders. It allowed me to keep track of myself and measure my work ethic. With strumming, I've added a new deep layer to track myself, and even a method that's used frequently in the real world, maybe qualifying to become a scrum master.

C.E.R.

Expanding Upon Knowledge in Physics.

The C.E.R. was our end of the standard test. A compilation of all our knowledge on one PowerPoint, answering questions that related to the unit. If you'd like to see the entire presentation, feel free to email me. Otherwise, I don't wish to release all the answers to my Physics work, so apologies. Through this, however, we did labs, papers, and lessons that all expanded to this single question that had to be answered through the citation and discover of work that I had witnessed and knowledge I have accumulated. It required you to really pay attention and remember the bits and pieces of work that will result in a good grade. This truly lets us showcase our thinking in a linear way, and sometimes, rarely but sometimes, connect past CER's to the current one.

REFLECTION

How have I grown to become an adaptive learner throughout my Junior year?

Being an adaptive learner has been my entire junior year. It's almost the embodiment of who I am. I have planned, adjusted, morphed my projects based on previous experiences which include mistakes and wins. The BMC truly guided me where to go and not to go with my business. From this stems plans, goals, dates, and so much more that could not have been done without it. The ECO Dome brought a dozen of past skills and new lines of thinking that must be combined to bring in a finishing product, showing me there is always a way to finish a project no matter what I may have under my belt. Scrummming lead me along a path of organization and self-certification. Through a new and strange method, I managed to take the scrum board into my own account and make a true system that I never knew anything about beforehand.
