DIGITALLY LITERATE CITIZEN

Understanding and using a digital medium allows access to a multitude of different directions of projects that would not normally be taken. In this new world of digital prowess, it's important to understand the extent of the platform and to use it as a tool. Power points, videos, coding, and other types of skills in the field are key components to the competency.

GRAPHING TUTORIAL

Learning the basics of making a digital graph in Physics.

One of the first digital projects assigned to us in Physics, the task was to learn the uses of Graphing via spreadsheets in order to show our aptitude in the area of graphing. With a group of two other people, we together formed a plan and explanatory video in order to showcase our skills in the discipline. While my other members did overview and editing, I was in charge of the spread sheets and supplying the actual data. All the graphs you see in the video are ones I have made. The skill of easily making graphs was something that would be extended into other classes, especially math. The extension of this, and the implications it supplied were extended. The formation of a graph also allows for one to understand it better, even if it was in a digital sense. Seemingly getting two birds with one stone.

GAVIN'S NOTEBOOK FINANCIAL MODEL

Calculating revenue, COGS,  SG&A, and much more in Business Incubator.

Throughout incubator, we were set to plan for the future finances of our business. To do this, we were provided with a premade sheet in order to ensure calculations and thoughts were precise. To understand the graph took a knowledge of the formulas and organization of spreadsheets, and took some time to learn. When learned thoroughly however, we began to make educated guesses about revenue, start up costs, and much more. Below is a page from the spreadsheet. I refrain from showing more due to the information it contains within it.

TRIG SPREADSHEETS

Learning how to easily calculate problems using spreadsheets in Trigonometry.

In trigonometry, we had some down time near just before quarantine. Throughout this time, we learned the power of spreadsheets and their calculation/formula properties. We learned shortcuts and other skills that help use and complete spreadsheets in a timely matter. Not only can this be used in a school standpoint, but also could be used for real world finances and calculations. With just a bit of instruction, these sheets were easily made. The first couple show some work, while the last spreadsheet shows the formula used to accomplish the other numbers.

GREEN SCREENING

Learning to Ultra key for projects in Physics and Humanities

Green-screening was a lot more simple than I thought, and as you can see I applied it to a lot of my projects. I had to learn the skill myself, as I didn't have anyone to teach me. The simple action of green-screening expanded what I had under my belt in regards to video editing, allowing me to expand my creativity in the field. Though you may see other people, all the post produciton, which includes video editing was done by me. The quality of each one is not perfect, but I am proud of what I was able to produce.

REFLECTION

How have I grown to become digitally literate throughout my Junior year?

Digital Literacy was a big accomplishment throughout the year. Steadily adding to my skill set across the digital realm was fun and inspiring. From video edits to discovering the use and power extent of such a competency. I felt I didn't necessarily develop the most in this one, but I definitely know some new ins and outs of different applications.
